Jaipur Tourism Information

The Pink city Jaipur is resemblance of Rajasthani culture. India’s first planned city situated at the desert area of Rajasthan. Earlier it has served as a royal capital of Rajput dynasty and now its state capital of Rajasthan.

Jaipur is one of the most visited tourist place of India is well known for its hospitality and tradition. Architectural wonders like Amber fort, Hawa Mahal and city place are major tourist attraction of Jaipur in India.

Connectivity with all major Indian cities and availability of verity of accommodations (hotels, Resorts etc) make Jaipur a perfect destination for tourists.

History of Jaipur:

Jaipur city was established by Maharaja Jai Singh in year 1737. This was the India’s first planned city was a dream project of Maharaja Jai Singh. Maharaja ruled in Rajasthan during 1699- 1744. Initially his capital was Amber, but he felt need to change the capital due to increasing population and a scarcity of water and finally he decided to developed a new city. In year 1737 the work on city started and within a 4 year major portion built gracefully and king sifted to Jaipur. In 1853, when Prince of Wales visited Jaipur, in the honor of his welcome whole city was painted in pink color, after that it also called Pink city.

Jaipur Tourist Attractions


Jaipur is one of the richest cities of India in terms of tourist sights. Hawa Mahal, Jaigarh Fort, Nahargarh Fort, City Palace, Sisodia Rani Ka Bagh, Albert Hall and many more sights.

Hawa Mahal:

one of the main tourist sights of Jaipur, Hawa Mahal palace was built by Maharaja Sawai Pratap Singh in 1799. The palace was designed by Lal Chand Usta and basically it was the women’s (Zenana) chamber. Its original intention was to allow the Royal ladies to observe everyday life in the street below without being seen. This is a five story building constructed of red and pink sandstones.

The monument has 953 small windows, so that breeze (Hawa) could circulate though these windows. These 953 windows always keep the palace cool and due to these small wonder windows palace called Hawa Mahal.

Gaitore:

In this place Maharajas of Jaipur came for rest. This site is situated on the Jaipur-Ambar road about 15 km from Jaipur. In this place every ruler of Jaipur constructed a cenotaph on his honor. These cenotaphs are commonly known as ‘Chhatri’. These artistic Gaitore is a wonderful model of architecture which attracts the tourist automatically.

Govind Dev Ji temple:

This temple is situated on the premises of the City Palace. The Krishna temple is belong to Royal family of Jaipur and was made by Sawai Jai Singh. Every day seven times Aarti perform in the temple.

Albert Hall:

Albert Hall is an exquisitely architectural structure, which was designed by Swinton Jacob, a British architect. This beautiful building was opened in 1887 AD. Paintings, Carpet, Ivory, stone, and metal sculptures are the main attractions of this Royal hall.

Govind Dev Ji temple:

This ancient holy kund (water tank) is situated in low hill, near Jaipur. An ancient sun temple built by Diwan Kripa Ram is located at the highest top of hill and one of the attractive tourist spots of Jaipur.
