The name of Dwarka city is mentioned in the Mahabharata, the Harivansha, the Bhagavata Purana, the Skanda Purana, and the Vishnu Purana. Dwarka consider as one of the seven oldest cities of India. It is believed that the city was stabilised by Lord Krishna.
It is said that Lord Krishna, after slaying Kansa, left his abode at Mathura and traveled with the entire Yadava community to the coast of Saurashtra where he founded a town and named it Swarnadwarika (Later called Dwarka). The oldest temple of Dwarka is stablised by the Shambha, the grandson of Lord Krishna. |
Gomati Ghat Temples:
This place where Gomati, the descended Ganga, meets the sea at Chakratirtha Ghat. It is to believe that to take bath where Gomati meets the sea it offer liberation. There are so many small temples surrounding with ghats.
Except these Bhadkeshwar Temple, Sunset Point, Shri Jagatguru Shankaracharya Math, Ved Havan, Light House, Shardapith Math Museum are other holy and tourist places of Dwarka, where should visit once.
