Deoghar Tourism Information



Deoghar is situated at Jharkhand, an Indian state. Deoghar is a famous pilgrimage of Hindu religion. The small Deoghar town is covered by a jungle and low wooden hills.

There are two rivulets Yamunajor and Dharua near the town.

Deoghar town is about 223 km from Patna. The nearest railway station from the Deoghar is Baidyanath dham.

History of Deoghar:

The earlier history found that Deoghar was ruled by the last Gupta Emperor Adityasena Gupta, in the 8th century A.D. The Baidyanath dham temple has been famous since then. Later Deoghar region was ruled by Mughal.

In early 18th century Maharaja of Gidhaur lost the region from Nawab of Birbhum, which was later recaptured by Maharaja of Gidhaur. In1857, British became the ruler of the region after defeating Nawab of Sirajudaula. After independence of India it became a part of free country.

Deoghar Tourist Attractions


Deoghar has an importance in the Hindu Religion therefore it is a most visited religious tourist place of Jharkhand state. Ravneshwar Shiva temple of Deoghar is a Siddha Peeth on amongst the twelve Shiva Jyotirlingams in India. Every year a Mela (fair) is organized in the month of Shrawan (A Hindu month). Some famous tourist spots of Deoghar are:

Nandan Pahar-:

This small hilly region has a natural beauty in abundance. The famous Nandi Temple of the Deoghar is situates at this hilly wonder. The hill faces the famous Shiva temple on one side and on the other side it has a beautiful lake luring the tourists.

Basukinath-:

this place is only 43 km from the Deoghar town and famous for its Shiva temple, which is located in the Basukinath.

Satsanga Ashram-:

This Ashram is a holy place for the devotees of sri sri Anukul Chandra Thakur. Thousands of devotees gather at this place during the month of Kartik (A Hindu month).
