The City of Money

One of the four metro cities of India Mumbai (formally known as Bombay) is biggest in terms of population. Mumbai is also called commercial capital of India.

Many important financial houses such as Reserve Bank of India, Bombay stock exchange, National stock exchange of India and headquarters of many big business houses run from here.

India’s entertainment industry running from Mumbai and popularly known as Bollywood.

History of Mumbai:

Mumbai has been ruled by many emperors like Ashoka in 13th BC, after Maurya Empire (Ashoka) Satavahanas, Silkara Dynasty and some Gujrati emperor also ruled the Mumbai. In 1534 Portuguese established their establishment. In 1853 India’s first passenger railway line were established between Bombay and Thane. Quit India movement were also started from Bombay in 1942.

Beside the commercial and entertainment city Mumbai has a very exciting tourist destination too. There are so many tourist places for hang out in city, just need to know about them.

Chowpatty Beach:

Chowpatty is a Mumbai’s most happening hang out Place. Cool fresh air which comes from the sea surface enough to remove whole day’s tension.

Walk in a Chowpatty in the evening will send to you in a magical land. Without eating a Bhalepuri (snake) in Chowpatty your trip can’t be completed.

Chhatrapati Shivaji Terminal:

This is a one of the main railway stations of Mumbai, popularly known as VT (Victoria Terminus). This is a cities most exuberant building, looks like a royal palace rather than a railway station. This luxurious building was designed by Frederick Stevens, as headquarter of the great Indian Peninsular Railway Company and was completed in 1887.

Elephanta Island:

These ancient structure situated in an island little away from the Mumbai city. In actual Elephanta is a caved into the solid rock of the island is the series of ornate Shaivite temples, covered in ornate carving of Hindu deities. Except Monday every day tourist boats heads out from the Gateway of India to the island and charges a very nominal fare.

The Gateway of India, Mani Bhawan, National Gallery of Modern Art, and St. Thomas’ Cathedral are some other famous tourist spots in Mumbai.
