Bangalore Tourism Information

Bangalore is one of the fastest growing IT cities in Asia. The capital of Karnataka state, India, is located at 1000 meter from the sea level. The beautiful weather, green surroundings, wide roads and tree lined avenues are the main features of India’s Silicon City.

Bangalore is called entrance to south India, this a midway for going to places like Ooty, Kodaikanal, Chennai, Kanyakumari, Mangalore and other major cities of south India.

Bangalore is also known as The Gardens City of India and Neon City. This hot and happening city has a lot of tourist spots for visit.

History of Bangalore:

Bangalore was first founded by Petty ruler Kempe Gowda in 1537. Many rulers ruled on Bangalore time to time. During the reign of Ali Hader and his son Tipu Sultan Bangalore developed as an important city. After defeat of Tipu Sultan by British the city came under the rule of British and they shifted their regional capital from Srirangapatnam to Bangalore. In year 1956 Karnataka merged into the Republic of India, with the accession of the princely state of Mysore and adjoining area.

Bangalore Tourist Attractions

Bangalore is one of the richest tourist destinations of the country. There are so many places for visit like Parks, palaces, museums and so many other sites.

Sri Gavi Gangadhar-Eshwara Temple:

This temple is a marvelous piece of architecture and astrological skill of ancient sculptors.

It’s a like a magic to see that every year on makara Sankranti (14/15 January) a ray of sunlight passes through the horn of the stone bull, Nandi, situated out side the temple and illuminates the idol of Lord Shiva inside the cave.

St. Andrew’s Kirk:

This magnificent Kirk is situated on Cubon road, is only Scottish Kirk in Bangalore. This was built in early 17th century.

The fort and Tipu Sultan Palace:

The fort has almost ruined only one part of fort is remain. This is a place where Hydar Ali (Tipu’s father) had imprisoned David Baird along with number of British officers during war with British. The fort was famous for its Islamic style carved arches and well preserved Ganpati temple. The Tipu Sultan palace is now a museum. This two story building was started by Hyder Ali and was completed by Tipu Sultan in 1791.

Bangalore Palace:

This 110 year old monument one of the most visited tourists spots of the city. This Tudor style of building was built by Wodyar King in 1880 at the cost of Rs. 1 million.

Cubbon Park:

At the heart of city the 300 acres of green land gives the panoramic view to the city. This green and beautiful park pleasure to visit and is highly popular with walkers, joggers and nature lovers.

Vidhana Soudha:

The most beautiful and important architecture of the city is Vadhana soudha. The huge building houses 24 departments and 300 rooms. It is a real pleasure to see such a marvelous building.

Lal bagh Gardens, Kempegowda Fort, Jama Masjid, Ulsoor Lake and ISKCON temple are some other tourist sightseeing of the Bangalore city.
