Amravati Tourism Information

Amravati also known as Amraoti, situated at Maharashtra a state in India. It is believed that the city belongs to King of all God, Indra. Amravati is only 157 km from Nagpur city. This small city is now growing rapidly with a growing infrastructure.

History of Amravati:

According to mythology Lord Krishna used a tunnel for escape, when he was running away with Rukhmani from her wedding ceremony. This tunnel is still here and laying from Amba Devi temple to Koundynapur, But now is closed.

Till 17th century it was the part of Nizam dynasty of Vidharva and later controlled by British. Great Indian freedom fighter Bhagat Singh has also spent 3 days in Amravati during his underground tenure.

Amravati Tourist Attractions

Amravati has some very prominent tourism sites like Shri Amba Devi temple, Melghat Tiger Project and Chikhaldara.

Amba Devi Temple:

This ancient spiritual temple is situated at the heart of the Amravati city, Gandhi Square. Every year during Navratri a big fair organised and devotees attend the fair from all over the state.

Melghat Tiger Project:

This wild life park situated at Satpura Mountains with a dense forest of teak and bamboo.


You can see a wild range of animal spices. Now it has been declared as a tiger reserve. Best time to visit the place is from January to April.

Chikhaldara: it is a small hill station in the Amravati district, cover by the dense forest. This place is prime site for trekkers, animal lovers and sport lover, who wants to enjoy paragliding, para-motoring and para-winching.
